______________
Human beings have struggled to understand death since the beginnings of time. Cultures throughout history have developed myths and belief systems to explain the mystery of death and the afterlife. Religions throughout the word try to prepare us for a possible life after death.
This project has been inspired by the Scottish Folklore Washerwoman also known as “Bean Nighe”. She is an omen of death. Her unstable nature between life and death, her role as a prophet or omen of the impending death have been the main elements of inspiration. It explores the journey as a circle from dead body stage to a spirit and in reverse.
