MOM LOVES ME

By investigating domestic violence phenomenon I wanted to create forms and shapes that refer to children abuse, trying not to shock the viewer but normally convey the information I wanted.Although home is supposed to be the ideal and safe place for children to grow up normally, when parents have violent behavior against them, home converts to a dangerous and unsafe place.
I am trying to build a bridge between innocence and guilt, safe and unsafe, soft and sharp.
The condensation of so many little items covering every shape of every object, inverts the real use which is made for. The large number of these items refers to the number of victims that have been abused all over the world. The mosquito net in which teddy bears are hanging refers to the safe house that usually protects from danger, but now the danger is in the safety net as teddy bears are covered with sharp items.
A part of this work is made as a memorial for children that have been killed from their mothers, referring to real stories.

BACTERIA GARDEN
In this work I wanted to create a garden made by my bacteria. For two months I was growing samples of bacteria I had taken from my mouth. I watched them growing, and being inspired by their colours and their shapes I made bacteria using textiles.
Every garden is connected with nature has many bacteria such as mushrooms. Investigating the variety of mushrooms shapes, colours and sizes I tried to imitate them and create a fence made by these. Studying Antoni Gaudi’s architecture, especially the gates and the garden fences he had made I tried to connect his organic shapes and forms with the bacteria made by the textiles.
The final project was an installation titled “Bacteria Garden”. Entering the bacteria garden’s door the visitor had the opportunity to take a look at the samples of bacteria I had put in the garden, as well the pictures of the process and the files with the investigation elements.
Materials: textiles, plaster, paraffin.

PORT LIGHTS
During my holidays in Tinos island in Greece in the summer of 2014, I was inspired by the port’s lights. Sitting in front of the port’s lighthouse I was watching the town and its lights, as it was getting dark more and more lights were lighted on. The reflection of the lights on the water and the number of the lamps across the port I found interesting to notice. I took pictures of the port sitting at the mole port. Analysis of the data about the number of the lights, the colour, the size or the frequency of the lighting, were used to make couple of graphs.
There are two final works, the first one made by nails which were used to represent the lamps depending on the size and shape. The second work is interactive as the visitor can control which and how many groups of lights will be lighten up.
This work is made by wood, electric circuit and circuit breaker.
Materials: nails, rice paper, graph paper, wood, lamps, electric circuit, circuit breakers.

THE BIRD STEPPED DOWN
Sitting in the bench in front of the gallery I was watching passengers walking, talking on the phone, running, talking to each other, laughing, yelling, smiling or making faces. I wrote down all the phrases I had heard from people passing in front of me, I took notice of the expressions they had on their feces as well. Imitating these expressions I took photographs my face and printed them in ID size, black and white. Moreover, I recorded all the expressions I had heard, repeating them in different frequencies and volumes to express the number of people passing and the periods of time they passed too. The title of the work “The bird stepped down” was inspired by one of the phrases I had heard from one passenger, referring to a pigeon that was flying and suddenly stepped down. The title was the motive to put all the pictures down on the wall of the gallery in which I exhibited it. The entering the gallery, the visitor was hearing the record and had the opportunity to make a tour in the gallery and noticing the photographs using a magnifying glass.
