FGM
In this work I have been dealing with the most sensitive subject of female genital mutilation. During my research I discovered many useful elements that helped me to decide the shape, the materials, the size, the colors I needed to use in order to make a piece of work that could mirage the danger and the pain of the female genital mutilation. This work I had been inspired by the story of a woman, Waris Dirie, who has dedicated her life to protesting the women’s rights and has tried to prevent this action. I decided to dedicate this piece of work to this woman’s action against FGM. The textiles that have been used are influenced by African culture and are connected with her career in modeling. I tried to make a collage of elements that represent this woman, the action of FGM, elements inspired Africa, and especially the countries where this action still takes place.
